This excludes any beverages, taxes, gratuities (tips), or fees. This restaurant accepts the Disney Dining Plan when it is active. The Disney Parks Dining team says there is “one yellow food” on every menu at Walt Disney World. Of course, this means food that typical picky eaters will typically launch themselves toward.

This option could easily be a light entree for someone or great for sharing. Your host, server, and even food runners might have some fun bits and jokes for you. Plus, it’s a relaxed atmosphere that still has dynamite food offerings. Hello and welcome to the world-famous Jungle Cruise…restaurant. We tend to enjoy visits to Skipper Canteen due to its immersive theme and unique menu. You’d be hard-pressed to find similar eats anywhere else in Disney World!

And there’s the once-secret meeting room of the Society of Adventurers and Explorers or S.E.A.. The story of the restaurant is that the granddaughter of the Jungle Cruise’s Dr. Albert Falls, Alberta Falls, took over the family business (That’s Jungle Navigation Co.!). You’ve heard of the Jungle Cruise, you’ve heard of the backside of water, but have you heard of Jungle Navigation Co. We’re bringing you a review from the punniest and most adventurous restaurant in Magic Kingdom. The skippers are the inspiration for Frank Wolff in this film.

This cargo was scattered throughout the jungle due to a cargo plane mishap. The skippers are a broad group of characters from the Jungle Cruise. They are traditionally the roles of the cast-members assumed in Jungle Cruise attractions. In 2021 both the Walt Disney World and Disneyland Jungle Cruise rides were reimagined.

In this overlay, the skippers ran tours attacked by pirates. JNC skipper Jonas Brisbane was the protagonist of this attraction.

We paid about $98 to dine at Skipper Canteen, and it's now my favorite table-service restaurant in Magic Kingdom.

On the way in, you’ll spot several S.E.A. club fezzes on display in a glass case, which name checks those who attended secret meetings in the secret meeting room at Skippers Canteen. Then there’s the Jungle Cruise Room or Falls Family Parlor. As the second name suggests, this was the family parlor prior to conversion into a restaurant, and accordingly, it’s a more intimate location and features memorabilia culled from the Falls’ family archives. The Jungle Cruise restaurant features three different dining rooms.

The design of the other two rooms feels more purposeful, and their atmosphere is more elegant. That’s most pronounced in the S.E.A. room, but it’s also true in the Jungle Room. Fans will recognize hat tips to other offerings in Adventureland, including the Enchanted Tiki Room, Pirates of the Caribbean, Orange Bird at Sunshine Tree Terrace, Indiana Jones Adventure, and more. There are also more obscure references, including things like the extinct Tokyo DisneySea show, Legend of Mythica and other attractions in Hong Kong Disneyland and the Japan parks. The Crew Mess Hall features wall hangings of photos, documents, masks, native musical instruments, and expedition mementos gathered by the Jungle Cruise skippers on their expeditions. There are some fun visual gags and nods to other attractions and Imagineers, plus entire (amusing) documents to read.

Selection on the “yellow food” menu include Mac and Cheese, Chicken tenders, Pizza, Cheeseburgers, etc. The Jungle Skipper Canteen is no exception, with plenty for your young Skipper to choose from. The Kungaloosh, a classic Skipper dessert, features an African-inspired chocolate cake with caramelized bananas, cashew-caramel ice cream, and coffee dust.

This attraction was themed to being a training-service for future skippers run by the Jungle Expedition Skipper Training School. If you’re looking for something more unique and interesting, this is right up there with the Falls Family Falafel. I don’t think it’s nearly as good as the Veranda Fried Rice, but that’s comfort food and this is a bit more adventurous. Beyond the themed design and backstory, another fun aspect of Skipper Canteen is your server.

The dish was over-seasoned and the natural gamey flavor of the lamb was muted; that might’ve been a plus for many, but not for me. This was really good, and a nice refreshing contrast to the Veranda Fried Rice. Almost every ingredient here tasted fresh and light, save for the pork. The meat was savory and flavorful, balancing out the dish and giving it a robust quality. I’m pretty sure this has been around for several years–perhaps since Skipper Canteen opened.

While her father was busy traveling on the “lecture circuit” in 1919, Dr. Falls’ eight-year-old granddaughter Alberta was sent to live in the estate. The Falls family recognized an adventurous spirit in Alberta that would be better allowed to blossom in the jungle, so the Falls estate became her new home where she could better learn the business. It was more elegant than the main dining room and was filled with a lot of detail. Although the books were props (I tried pulling one off the shelf to see if they were real), it was a nice touch and played to the restaurant's explorer theme. The noodle dish ($28) typically comes with crispy pork, but I swapped it out for tofu.

Do note, the prices are on the high side for some items (but also, they’re not TOO bad by Disney standards!), but you could split a few dishes and still get to enjoy the awesome vibes. This unique treat is a Lime “Panna Cotta” served with Mango-Lime Sorbet and Fresh Fruit. And it’s the finale of what turned out to be our almost entirely plant-based meal (minus the pork 😉).

” Here in Adventureland, you’ll get service with a PUN and a smile! And we hope you’ll be smiling in return, because not only will your host or wait staff give you the giggles, the menu will, too! The large outdoor (yet covered) waiting area boasts large rattan chairs and stained glass panels. Lush greenery surrounds the area, and overhead, a belt and cog fan system wafts the air. For a plant-based dish, this was FULL of flavor and so, so tasty! It wasn’t too spicy and we loved the crunch from the pumpkin seeds.

Fitting for those with peanut or fish allergies, this dessert has a Pineapple-Basil Compote that’s extra islandy. The Shiriki Noodle Salad, S.E.A. SHU MAI, the iconic Whole Fried Fish, Sankuru Sadie’s Seafood Stew, Trader Lamb Chops, and the “A Lot at Steak” Salad were removed at that point. The Sankuru Seafood Stew was a personal favorite of this reporter, and we hope it comes back soon!

Don’t go in expecting this to be a dry (humor) docked version of Jungle Cruise–let it be a pleasant surprise if it happens. This secret society of fictional and real-life explorers that began at Tokyo DisneySea two decades ago and has grown into a shared universe of characters and story points that has spread all over the world. The next stop is a Society of Explorers and Adventurers show that’s coming to Disney+ as the first project for the Magic Kingdom Universe. Don’t get me wrong, I love all of Skipper Canteen, but the Mess Hall feels a bit like a ‘prop shop’ that’s been piled high with Easter Eggs.
